Eat Bulaga’s Kalyeserye sweetheart Maine Mendoza spoke about gay rights in an interview. LGBT group had all the reason to be happy and support Maine because the actress is an LGBT advocate. She has stoutly-declared that she is for pro-gay marriage and has some good reasons for why she believes it should become legal.
For Maine, “Love has no gender.”
“Love is gender-blind. Lahat ng tao, kahit anong kasarian, may karapatang magmahal kung sino man ang gusto nilang mahalin,”quips the star of Destined To Be Yours.
“Hindi ko ma-gets bakit hindi s’ya tanggap ng iba. We should be allowed to do the things that make us happy, especially if we aren’t hurting other people,” she adds.
The phenomenal star and youth icon joins the ranks of celebrities who are advocates of LGBT communities such as Brad Pitt, Beyonce, Anne Hathaway, Justin Timberlake, Daniel Radcliffe and Kanye West.
For Maine, gay marriage is about symbolically blessing a relationship, but the larger issue is about transmitting a fundamental message about equality. Gay people should have equality in law everywhere.
We no longer wonder if Maine will have more fans coming from the LGBT community, knowing well that the actress is fighting for gender-equality.
