- Prior to his recent Twitter rant about a local magazine cover, Kapamilya actor Jake Cuenca denied that he was referring to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s YES! cover
- Jake said that he wasn’t being specific on that comment. He said he just wanted to tell that magazines should have more creativity.
“Ikaw Lang Ang Iibigan” star Jake Cuenca finally clarified that he was not pertaining to any specific celebrity or local magazine when he posted a rant on Twitter seemingly questioning the results of this year’s “100 Most Beautiful Stars” of YES! Magazine.
In his tweet, Jake wrote “What’s happened to magazines here? They just put people who could sell rather than having people who can actually influence fashion? Ano to?”
Netizens assumed that he was referring to Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla’s YES! cover because he posted it the same day the results were revealed.
Jake now ended that speculations and told the press during a press conference for the Cinemalaya entry “Requited,” that he was just expressing his opinion.
“I don’t want to make it bigger than what it is. That’s my opinion. Take it or leave it. Wala namang personal. Wala lang, I was just looking at magazines tapos ganun ang naging reaction ko.”
“I was not mentioning any single actor. I wasn’t going off about actors or celebrities. I was talking about magazines,” he explained.
He even mentioned that he’s in good terms with Daniel so it’s impossible that he would malign their cover.
“At the end of the day, alam ba ng mga tao kung gaano kami ka-close ni DJ? Okay kaming dalawa nun. I’m not pertaining to any celebrity.”
Jake’s point was that local magazines should strive to be more creative and not settle for anything less.
