The beloved Univerkada is set for one final reunion as Viva One premieres ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’, the sixth and final installment of Gwy Saludes’ hit University Series, on Sept. 5.
Based on Saludes’ bestselling Wattpad novels, the franchise has amassed more than 720 million reads online and has become one of Viva One’s biggest successes. The series began with ‘The Rain in España’ and continued with ‘Safe Skies, Archer’, ‘Chasing in the Wild’, ‘Avenues of the Diamond’, and ‘Golden Scenery of Tomorrow’.
Headlining the final chapter are Jairus Aquino and Nicole Omillo, who portray Shan and Kierra—two young people from different worlds brought together by shared emotional scars and a complicated journey toward healing.
Kierra is an architecture student who still believes in true love despite her painful past, while Shan, a psychology student, has become cynical about relationships after witnessing heartbreak firsthand. As their paths cross, their unlikely connection develops into a romance shaped by unresolved trauma, emotional growth, and second chances.
The story takes a darker turn when the person responsible for Kierra’s deepest trauma reenters her life, forcing her to confront her past. Shan stands by her side as they navigate both their relationship and Kierra’s fight for justice.
Directed by Gino M. Santos, ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’ marks the filmmaker’s return to the University Series after helming ‘Safe Skies, Archer’ and ‘Avenues of the Diamond’.
The series also reunites the franchise’s much-loved Univerkada, with cast members from previous installments making special appearances. Returning are Heaven Peralejo, Marco Gallo, Bea Binene, Wilbert Ross, Jerome Ponce, Krissha Viaje, Gab Lagman, Hyacinth Collado, Aubrey Caraan, and Lance Carr, bringing the interconnected storylines full circle.
The cast gathered for the series’ media conference on July 29 in Quezon City, where fans of the various University Series love teams showed their support by giving gifts to members of the media attending the event.
The reunion also saw former real-life couple Heaven Peralejo and Marco Gallo sharing the stage once again, with both admitting they had missed each other during the press conference.
Joining Aquino and Omillo in the ensemble are Mon Confiado, Dominic Ochoa, Angelu de Leon, Anjo Yllana, Bernadette Allyson, Yayo Aguila, Michael Flores, Jan Marini, and Cris Villanueva.
Serving as the emotional conclusion to one of the Philippines’ most successful Wattpad adaptations, ‘Our Yesterday’s Escape’ premieres on Sept. 5 exclusively on Viva One, with new episodes streaming every Saturday.
