Mocha uson explains her silence during the confrontation between the blogger and the international journalist
Video of emotional DDS blogger Sass Rogando Sasot confronting a British Broadcasting Corp. (BBC) South East Asis Correspondent Jonathan Head viral on Monday (November 13). The incident happened at the Asean Summit Media Center in Pasay City.
Sasot lamented that the BBC had insulted not just her but the millions of followers of supporters when the BBC interviewed Pinoy Ako Blog’s Jover Laurio. Sasot claimed that Laurio is a “very minor” blogger in the Philippines.
“Can you tell me how is it possible that Jover Laurio, a very minor blogger in the Philippines was featured by the BBC in order to defend herself…but not someone like me whose social media following is way way higher than her, whose Facebook engagement is way way higher than her and who you had even interacted on Facebook?” Sasot asked.
Laurio, the blogger behind the Pinoy Ako Blog, was interviewed by the BBC last month after she admitted being behind her blog as some pro-Duterte bloggers were threatening to expose her true identity.
Silent Mocha Uson
While Sasot is confronting Head, Assistant Secretary Mocha Uson of the Presidential Communications Operations Office is seen standing and just watching the confrontation. Uson’s silence puzzled some netizens and even the mainstream media.
On Twitter, Uson explained, “Pasensya na po @News5AKSYON tinuruan po kasi ako ng magulang ko na kapag hindi ka kasali sa usapan wag kang sumabat. Salamat po.”
