ESPN celebrates the “Live Boxing Month” this May as the world’s leading sports network features a great lineup of boxing events to all Filipino Fight Fans.
Ready your TV on May 13 because ESPN5 will air live world-class non-stop boxing action from morning to evening!
The first fight will start at 10 AM where the most anticipated world lightweight championship fight between Jorge Linares (44-3, 27 KOs) deals with pound-for-pound Vasyl Lomancheko (10-1, 8 KOs). Lomancheko is fast and hard-hitting making it a risky bout for Linares.
Immediately at 3 PM, our local boxers will take a center stage as a nine-bout card is happening live from the SM North EDSA Skydome as MP Promotions and Knuckleheads Pro Boxing Fraternity in cooperation with Joven Sports Promotions presents “Survival Instinct.” The solid and wild top fighters from coach Joven Jimenez’s Survival Camp will show they’ve got.
The top card will be the 2012 Rio Olympian Mark Anthony Barriga (8-0, 1 KO), who will confront Mexico’s solid puncher Gabriel Mendoza (29-5-2, 23 KOs) in an International Boxing Federation minimumweight world title eliminator. The winner on this bout will be the mandatory challenger of Japan’s very own Hiroto Kyoguchi – the reigning IBF minimumweight champion.
Other notable fighters such as featherweight, AJ “Bazooka” Banal, “Marvelous” Marvin Sonsona, and recent world title challenger Genesis Serviana will also entertain us for the rest of the day.
Fans can watch Linares and Lomanchenko fight in life at SM North EDSA. Tickets are available via all SM Ticket Outlets or online. The same fight will also be aired on channel 5, Aksyon TV, and ESPN5 official website.
As part of the Live Boxing Month celebration, ESPN5 will also feature the Greatest Fights in history airing every Tuesdays and Thursdays. Fans of Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky” movie will also get the pleasure to remember the most epic boxing movie of all time starting from Part 1 to 5.
For the main event, IBF Super Flyweight Champion – Jerwin Ancajas – will defend his belt against his countryman and mandatory challenger Jonas Sultan in Las Vegas for the first all-Filipino title fight in 93 years. This exclusive matchup will be shown live on ESPN5.
