After his charming yet poignant performance as the best friend Barbs in Die Beautiful which won him Best Supporting Actor awards, Christian Bables plays the lead role in Signal Rock, an entry in this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino under the direction of Chito Roño.
According to the actor, his role in the said movie is more mature and daring. He added that his versatility as an actor will be heavily tested by this new role.
Months ago, Christian was heavily bashed when he allegedly refused to do Born Beautiful. Born Beautiful was supposed to be the prequel of the movie Die Beautiful which turned the then-little known Bables into a critics darling. Some went as far as calling the newcomer “walang utang na loob.” Bables says the bashing did hurt him.
“As I explained po, talagang conflict of schedules lang dahil tutok kami dun sa teleserye. Hindi po itong Signal Rock ang dahilan,” said Christian.
When asked which was more hurtful between being called “walang utang na loob” and being rumored gay, he answered, “Ay mas matindi ‘yung akusahan kang walang utang na loob.
“Kasi po hindi naman totoo.”
