Angelica Panganiban revealed why she had to turn down a role in the ABS-CBN afternoon series “Asintado” which is now played by Shaina Magdayao.
The actress said that she is tired of playing a character full of hate, “Siguro kasi, coming from ‘Pangako Sa ‘Yo’ na walang ginawa yung character ko kung hindi magalit kay Kathryn Bernardo at kay Daniel Padilla at kay Jodi Sta. Maria, parang siyempre, gusto kong project na susunod, e, ilihis naman natin ng konti.
“Mas magaan sana, siyempre. Ayoko sana ng mga location na warehouse kung saan yun ang ending. Yun lang naman ang mga request ko.”
Angelica has an upcoming series with Zanjoe Marudo titled “Playhouse.” The actress shared why the series piqued her interest.
“Nagkataon, pinitch sa akin ito, parang nagkasundo naman kami. Parang wala namang talagang warehouse sa ending so tinanggap ko agad.
“Kaya naman ang bilis ng pag-yes ko dahil alam ko naman yung pinanggalingan ng ganoong timeslot—kung saan iikot talaga yung story niya, family-oriented talaga siya, yung mga nilalagay sa ganoong oras.”
This is her first time to be paired with Zanjoe Marudo. She admitted she had a hard time playing her role to the point that the whole production had to intervene to keep the scenes solid.
In the end, team effort prevailed and the show is now ready to roll. The series will also feature Kisses Delavin and Donny Pangilinan.
“Playhouse” is set to air on September 17 before the noontime show “It’s Showtime.”
