In an exclusive interview of GMANetwork.com, Boobay and Tekla shared what they have learned from their mentor about delivering their punchlines and jokes. Unlike other comedians, they poke fun of themselves rather than their audience.
They chose self-deprecating humor, which is what they’re intending to do on Show.

According to Boobay, “Walang ganun na kailangan may mararamdaman ‘yung isa. Lait-lait, hindi ako naniniwala sa ganun. Kasi sabi ni Mr. Allan K, hindi mo kailangan manlait para makapagpatawa ka.
“’Yun ang hindi ko talaga makalimutan na laging nasa utak ko. Hindi mo kailangan magmura para makapagpatawa, isa pa ‘yun.
“Kahit sa amin na lang [‘yung panlalait], yes, kasi magagawan namin ng paraan ‘yan agad-agad.
“At the same time, talagang hindi ka sensitive sa mga ganyan dahil alam mong for the sake of fun, mapasaya ‘yung audience mo, mga manonood.”

While Tekla agreed on it and said that there are many ways to make the viewers happy or buy their brand of humor.
“Itong TBATS hindi ‘to degrading kumbaga. Maraming form ng comedy or maraming style ng comedy na hindi mo kailangang makapanlait to make people laugh, or use people or degrade people or manlait ka para nakakatawa,” he said.
“There’s millions, there’s thousands of ideas pagdating sa comedy.

“Kailangan meron kang bawi na tinatawag. Kailangan pagdating sa dulo, instead na magalit ‘yung binibiro mo, mapapangiti mo dapat.”

Even when it was still on a digital platform, the comedy show of the same title became a hit with its intended audience. The now-made for TV show will air this Sunday, right after Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho.
