Based on Philippine folklore, the mythical creature tikbalang commence its wedding during a sunshower. It is also believed that their love is sacred and lasts through eternity. Irene shared that this is what the young character of Nadine Lustre will witness and believe in the film.
Upon hearing the story of the movie, people from the press asked Nadine if she can relate the movie and her relationship with James Reid, and what the important lessons she has learned from it.
According to her: “Ang pinakamalaki talagang nagawa sa akin ng relationship is I learn to accept myself. Kasi before ang dami ko pong insecurities, ang dami kong problema, ang dami kong stress and all. Nung naging kami po kasi ni James, natutunan kong mag-relax, tapos mag-let go lang, tapos enjoy life. Ang pinaka-important kasi na natutunan naming dalawa is just to relax and love life.”
She also added that their relationship never had petty quarrels and misunderstanding.
“Parang kaming dalawa, parang walang bad vibes sa amin. Hindi rin kami parang nagbibigay ng bad vibes sa iba. Hindi kami nag-aaway ganun. Ngayon kasi pag may naramdaman ako, sini-share ko agad, sinasabi ko. Ngayon, pag may problema ako, sinasabi ko agad sa kanya. Sobrang love po namin yung state namin ngayon, ganito lang kami,” Nadine added.
It is expected that Viva Films’ Ulan will open along with other Hollywood movies.
It will premier on 13 March and stars Nadine Lustre and Carlo Aquino, together with Marco Gumabao. According to its director, Irene Villamor, the movie is quite different from other films and is also the first to introduce magic realism in the Philippines.
She said: “Kakaiba kasi yung genre niya na may magic realism siya. This is new relatively sa Pilipinas. Bago yung pelikula. Bagong ihahain, dahil maraming Hollywood blockbuster movies na iyun ang makalaban. So, sana #supportlocals sana.”
