GMA Network’s ‘Sahaya’ is an extraordinary epic-drama series top-billed by this generation’s most promising screen pairing, Bianca Umali and Miguel Tanfelix, together with sought-after Kapuso leading man, Migo Adecer.
‘Sahaya’ is the inspiring story of a determined and special Badjaw woman who rises above all difficult circumstances in life that will challenge her resiliency, as she maps her path towards self-acceptance, success, and admiration.
In the titular role as ‘Sahaya,’ Umali breathes life into a beautiful Badjaw lady blessed with extraordinary abilities which will lead her to inspire her family and her people, including Ahmad, her simple childhood friend who has always been in love with her, portrayed by Tanfelix. Adding a twist to their story is Jordan, played by Adecer, the wealthy Manileño who will compete with Ahmad for Sahaya’s love.
‘The General’s Daughter,’ which for over two months has followed Rhian — a soldier raised to kill her own father — conflicts, both physical and emotional, as she navigates a double-life. A trained assassin embedded in the military, she finds her once steely focus uncertain when her target and his family start regarding her with a kind of love she, until that point, has not felt. With a story spanning two generations and three families, ‘The General’s Daughter’ is bolstered by a casting coup that’s been put at the forefront of the show’s promotions. In fact, the project has been dubbed “the biggest teleserye of 2019.”
‘The General’s Daughter’ has remained on the top two most watched programs with a 34.0% national TV rating, which is a ____-point lead against new rival ‘Sahaya,’ which only earned only 15.9%.
According to NUTAM People Ratings, ‘Sahaya’ lost the ratings game against ‘The General’s Daughter’ as it earned 10.2% while the latter had 12.6%. The new Kapuso series was lower by 2.4% on its pilot day in TV ratings.
