‘It’s Showtime’ rules noontime timeslot, ‘Eat Bulaga!’ keeps losing its viewers

  • ‘It’s Showtime’ has already snatched the crown from ‘Eat Bulaga!’
  • The Kapamilya noontime show continues to soar high in ratings as opposed to its rival shows.
  • Televiewers find TAPE Inc.’s variety show ‘boring’ and ‘not lively’ anymore, a clamor to change segments already surfaced.

It looks like ‘It’s Showtime’ is ruling Philippine TV’s noontime battle

According to AGB Nielsen NUTAM (National Urban Television Audience Measurement), It’s Showtime continues to reign on its timeslot and kept its wide lead against rival shows Eat Bulaga and Dragon Lady. From May 6 to May 10, the Kapamilya show has attracted the interest of most viewers and proved that the show is undefeated.

On Monday, May 6, Its Showtime and Eat Bulaga garnered the same nationwide rating of 6.9%, while Dragon Lady got 6.3%.

On Tuesday, May 7, It’s Showtime‘s viewership rating rose up to 8.0% that is 1.1% higher than its previous rating. However, Eat Bulaga and Dragon Lady’s ratings decreased and settled to 6.8% and 5.9%.

By Wednesday, May 8, despite the drop in the rating, It’s Showtime still reigned over its rival shows. The Kapamilya show earned 7.2% audience share against Eat Bulaga and Dragon Lady which got 6.6% and 6.4% audience share.

As of Thursday, May 9, The Kapamilya noontime variety show’s rating continuous to decrease but it didn’t stop the program from being the no.1 in the said timeslot. The show tied up with its rival show Dragon Lady with 6.7% while Eat Bulaga settled to 6.1%, 0.5% lower than its previous rating.

On Friday, May 10, The Channel 2 show still dominated over its rival shows despite having lower viewership rating. The show garnered 6.4% rating, comparatively a bit higher than Eat Bulaga and Dragon Lady at 6.3% and 6.2%, respectively.

The ratings shows that It’s Showtime has won the interests of many viewers. With their funny stints and lively hosts and segments, no wonder this Kapamilya show dominion over Kapuso show line-ups.

Here are the list of current segments of It’s Showtime that makes it worth watching:

Tawag Ng Tanghalan

This is a singing competition that is open for all hopeful contenders from Metro Manila, Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. TNT Boys, Sam Mangubat, and Janine Berdin are few of the successful discoveries who rose to fame when they joined and won in the said singing competition. This segment is aired every Monday to Saturday.

The segment is aired every Saturday. BidaMan is a talent competition searching for ABS-CBN’s next leading man and open to 20-35 year-old men who are good-looking and talented, too.

KapareWho is an on-air dating game open to both male and females aged 40 years old and above. This segment is aired on weekdays.

Aside from the segments, the show’s funny and lively antics of the hosts themselves make it even more engaging. With their crazy and hilarious remarks, especially Vice Ganda’s and Anne Curtis’s, one will surely roll in laughter.

Eat Bulaga on the other hand, adapted new segments in their show.

Eat Bulaga is the longest running variety show in the Philippines and has already aired hundreds of segments and competitions on television. The current composition of the show include its iconic segment Juan for All, All for Juan: Bayanihan of d’ Pipol, and Plastic Ni Juan Project. New in the line-up of Eat Bulaga are Videoke DabarClash, #Artistahin, tai Chi Ale-Luuya Performer of the Day, and #MayNegosyo Promo.

It’s Showtime‘s  edge over Eat Bulaga is that its lively and humor from start to finish.

The Kapuso show’s edge on the other hand, is that the show had and still offers and helps many people earn money through their different segments.

However, televiewers find Eat Bulaga boring and not lively anymore. Some even said that they only thing they watch on EB is Maine Mendoza. Some also said that they want Maine and Alden Richards be back on EB as loveteam or else, they won’t watch it anymore.
