After almost eight months of silence regarding the whereabouts of actor Diego Loyzaga, his mother Teresa Loyzaga finally spoke up about his condition.

In the episode of Magandang Buhay last July 1, 2019, Teresa talked about what Diego had gone through. She also discussed how her son coped with depression and gave a few notes on how to deal with the situation.

In my case, I’m your mom tell me, make me part of that. It’s not your problem alone, problem natin ‘yan.

“So ang solusyon sa atin din. Huwag mong sosolohin kasi kung ikaw lang talaga, masisiraan ka. So you have to reach out at huwag kang matatakot. Hindi kahiya-hiyang aminin na ‘Hey malungkot ako, mayroon akong hindi maintindihan.’ The more you are vocal about it, the more mahahanapan natin ng solusyon, tapos gaganda ang buhay,” she added.

On top of that, the actress thanked the people who never stopped showing their love and support to Diego and promised them that her son will make a comeback.

“Ang daming tumatawag sa amin nagpapa-schedule. Ang daming humihingi na mag-attend si Diego. Ayaw namin kayong i-let down. Soon we will be able to give you a date and we will be able to say yes. Right now let’s wait in happy anticipation. Again, thank you dahil ‘yung suporta po niyo ay napakalaking tulong sa amin,” Teresa stated.

“I promise you the day will come when he returns, hindi namin kayo bibitinin. Hindi namin kayo pagsu-suwapangan ng panahon, oras at talento. Babalik siya. At pagdating ng araw na ‘yon, happy na again,” she promised.

In the meantime, Diego is busy living a gadget-free life and enjoys his time in cooking and gardening.

According to her, “Right now, Diego has decided na wala muna akong gadgets. Talagang lahat ‘yan out. He is maturing and he’s realizing what little things actually mean.”

“Ngayon gusto niya mag-take over ng kusina, nagluluto na. … at saka gusto niya makialam sa garden ko, ‘yung mga gulay na tinatanim ko,” Teresa added.

Aside from this, the actress also shared how her son wants to go back to school and study directing.

“Now he wants to go to school. He wants to study directing. Sabi ko why not? Kasi he has an eye, magaling siya sa camera talaga. Alam niya ang shots, alam niya ‘yung codes, sabi ko good on you. So refocus, ‘yun lang ‘yon. It’s a good thing you stop muna, take a break, reassess, refocus and then go,” the actress stated.

It was in November 2018 when news about Diego’s alleged suicide attempt exploded. The report about his suicidal act first broke when TV5 reporter Laila Chikadora posted a blind item on Facebook regarding a young actor who attempted suicide.

The caption reads, “Young actor of showbiz blood commits suicide.

“Slashes neck and wrists with a swiss knife.

“He is in a hospital somewhere in QC now; conscious.

“Please don’t let your inner demons win. I will pray for you. Sad.”

According to the report about his case, Diego was on the phone with his friend saying he was still fine before the incident happened. Just a moment later, his housemates found him trying to slit his neck with a swiss knife. They hurriedly called the paramedics to give him first aid before rushing him to the hospital.

For months, Diego’s camp kept mum about the issue.

Diego’s last project with ABS-CBN was the afternoon series Los Bastardos, which is still airing as of this writing.

Diego played the role of Joaquin Cardinal, the son of Don Roman Cardinal, Sr. (Ronaldo Valdez) with his mistress Alba Santillan (Isabel Rivas).

While the series is still airing, Diego decided to give up the show. With this, the production team of Los Bastardos had no choice but to kill off his character.

In the series, they showed that Joaquin went to America but the plane he was in crashed resulting in his death. Despite the absence of a corpse, the Cardinal family still held funeral rites for him.

However, the staff and his co-stars are still wishing for Diego’s return.
