  • It was in 2011 when Sharon Cuneta signed a five-year contract with TV 5
  • However, her contract was pre-terminated when she decided to go back to ABS-CBN in March 2015
  • In an interview, the Megastar revealed what she really felt when she left her mother network
  • She revealed the reason behind her leaving

On May 18, 2019, Sharon Cuneta was a guest on Showbiz Pa More!, an entertainment show broadcast by Jeepney TV. Hosted by DJ Jhai Ho, Sharon revealed what she felt when she left ABS-CBN back in 2011 to move to TV5.

In a video, the Megastar could be seen sitting side-by-side with ABS-CBN Executives including Charo Santos-Concio.

Cuneta remarked, “Tingnan mo naman ang kaligahayahan sa mukha ko. Hindi peke yan.”

When asked what was running in her mind during the time when she came back to ABS-CBN, this is what she says: “Exactly that. I’m home, I’m home. The home I never wanted to leave.”

She also shared her experience during her contract signing with TV5.

She told DJ Jhai, “Remember when I left, punipirma ako sa kabila [TV5], hiyang-hiya ako sa kanila. Kasi walang tigil na tumutulo yung luha ko.

“Yung in-offer naman sa’kin, kinikita ko naman yun. In a few years kinikita mo,” she added pertaining to the 1 billion talent fee that was reportedly offered to her by TV5.

She then clarified that it was not the money that made her turn her back on the Kapamilya Network, but a “misunderstanding” that she chose not to divulge.

She said, “Meron siyempreng maninira sa ‘yo [at] sasabihin ‘ah pera yan kaya niya pinatulan.’ It wasn’t that. Nagtampo ako. Alam nila tita Cory (Vidanes) yan.”

Cory Vidanes is the current Chief Operating Officer of broadcast for ABS-CBN.

Despite the misunderstanding, the actress admitted that she “really didn’t want to leave.”

During her stay with TV5, Cuneta shared that she found new friends, but she was like “a fish out of water” being away from her home network ABS-CBN.

The Megastar recalled the time when she returned to the Kapamilya Network. She happily shared how she was warmly welcomed and even compared herself to a mother who went abroad and finally returned back home to her children.

It was in 2011 when the Kapamilya actress signed a five-year contract with TV5. However she didn’t stay long. In 2014, she pre-terminated her contract and became a freelancer. The actress clarified that she returned the excess money from the one billion talent fee that was offered to her.

By March 2015, Cuneta announced that she was back with her home network. Right after her contract signing, the Megastar was announced as one of the judges of Your Face Sounds Familiar, marking her comeback with ABS-CBN.
