On the spitting issue between Los Bastardos co-stars Maxine Medina and Kylie Verzosa, the two actresses blamed social media for making the matters worse.
The accidental spitting wasn’t part of the scene between Maxine and Kylie but what had happened on the set was supposed to be kept a secret.
Actress Dianne Medina, Maxine’s cousin, seemingly started the issue when she posted a blind item on her Facebook page.
“Da who itong artista nandura sa kapwa artista na wala naman sa script. Girl, RESPECT pls. Minsan lang ako status Girl, ‘wag ang pamilya ko.”
At the final press conference of Los Bastardos, the issue was brought up and Maxine admitted that what had happened was out of her control.
“And then eventually… lahat sila parang nagalit na. So it’s not under my control anymore.”
Maxine said that she already talked to Dianne about not making it an issue.
“Although sinabihan ko na rin naman. And Ate Dianne knows it…. Ever since na bata kami, ganun na siya talaga na pinagtatanggol. Once na may agrabyado na isa, ganun kami lahat.
“So ako naman very private akong tao, hindi ako nag-aano sa social media. So nagkuwentuhan lang kami ng mom ko. Sabi ko, ‘Ma, tama ba ‘yon?’”
Maxine clarified that Kylie had already apologized for the incident.

“Nag-sorry naman po siya sa akin… four days [after] nangyari ‘yung scene. Siguro lesson na rin ito na before natin gawin ‘yung eksena, let’s talk about it. Para if ever na may mangyari na hindi kanais-nais ay kaya nating mag-sorry right after.”
Kylie, who was also present at the press conference, denied that the spitting happened because she was jealous that her boyfriend Jake Cuenca had a lot of kissing scenes with Maxine.
“It’s Jake and I who had many kissing scenes! But no, really, not at all—they never gave me a reason to feel bad or jealous. The three of us are friends. We were actually joking around after.”
Maxine stressed that things are okay between her and Kylie and that people should move on from the issue.
“Tapos na tayo. Nag-sorry na siya sa akin and nag-usap na kami. Okay na po ‘yon, sobrang okay na, okay na po kami.”
