Last Sunday, the 12th Gabay Guro celebration was held, spearheaded by PLDT and Smart Foundation at the Mall of Asia Arena, to give tribute to Filipino Teachers.
Stars from different networks gathered to pay homage at this annual event; former love team Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta, Ian Veneracion, Jaya, Jay-R, Jason Dy, Jona, K Brosas, Klarisse de Guzman, Kyla, Kuh Ledesma, Piolo Pascual, and Maymay Entrata.
Singers Martin Nievera, Pops Fernandez, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Zsa Zsa Padilla, and Zephanie Dimaranan were also present.
One of the highlights of the night was when former love team partners Gabby Concepcion and Sharon Cuneta hit the stage. The 25,000 teachers that were present along with guests and volunteers, shrieked and screamed at the top of their lungs seeing the two reunited on stage.
Hosted by Kapuso actors-comedians, Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo and Kadenang Ginto lead star Dimples Romana, the teachers participated in a raffle draw for a chance to win exciting prizes like gadgets, TV sets, cash prizes, livelihood packages, a Gratour Van from Foton, and a brand new house and lot.
Gabay Guro Chairperson Chaye Cabal-Revilla said, “Gabay Guro continues to develop innovative programs for our teachers and our partners in nation-building.
“Every year, it is our great honor to be able to give back to our teachers through a grand tribute and we always look forward to continuing this mission and empower them through Gabay Guro’s seven core pillars of learning.”
Since 2007, the annual Gabay Guro tribute aims to empower teachers through the use of educational facilities, scholarships, trainings, livelihood programs, broadbanding and computerization, annual Teacher’s Tribute, and the newly launched innovations pillar.
And as it celebrated its 12th anniversary with a star-studded Grand Gathering, the Gabay Guro App was also launched at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
