When Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) decided to suspend applications for medical financial assistance due to some anomalies that were uncovered, Agot Isidro remarked that it was unfair to let everyone suffer just for the sins of a few.
PAGCOR suspended applications after discovering that a couple who were applicants had falsified their documents just to get financial assistance.
Vice President for Corporate Social Responsibility Jimmy Bondoc castigated Agot for criticizing PAGCOR’s move in a long-form open letter on Facebook.
This is not fair.
Why punish everyone for the sins of a few?
Marami ang nangangailangan ng medical assistance. This is not right. https://t.co/zH6RTAHKIw

He informed the 53-year-old actress that PAGCOR has decided to resume accepting applicants for financial assistance but people should be verified by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) to proceed.
Furthermore, Jimmy wished that someone like Agot who is influential and smart should try doing government work so they would know how hard it is to take responsibility in the face of unsolicited advice and criticisms from the public.
He said: “First and foremost, due to the quick response of all concerned agencies, we are now receiving walk-in requests again, provided that they have been verified by the PCSO. This is not red tape, uunahan na kita. This is based on many legal reasons. But like I said, I would rather keep it short. Feel free to read the PCSO and PAGCOR charters, which are available online. Second, I would just like to share a personal wish. I wish that more people as smart and as influential as you would be more active regarding governance. Believe it or not, your opinions are very welcome. However, I also wish that more people as capable as you would engage in government work, even for a limited period only. I’m not sure of your work history, if you have already been employed in a plantilla position, or if you’ve ever been elected.”
He was not yet satisfied when he sarcastically informed Agot regarding PAGCOR’s decision to resume but also he was triggered to tag the actress as “stupid.”
“I really wanted to avoid saying this, but I must. Most of your comments are wrong, but they are not wrong because you are stupid, contrary to what many of your critics say. I know you are smart. But mam, you truly are extremely misinformed due to what seems to be a very sheltered existence. But I may be wrong.
“Basta mo na lamang kaming hinusgahan. Which is fine. But you did not even think of the consequences that your statement could have created, had we not been quick enough to resume operations today. We did not reopen for people like you. We reopened out of a sense of duty, and after much deliberation and investigation. Besides, I have just learned of your opinion this morning, long after we have decided to resume.”
Jimmy challenges Agot to work for government
In the last part of his long-form open letter for the actress, he challenged Agot to work for government offices, as he firmly believes that this could help her to be more kind and understanding to whatever the government has been going through. According to Jimmy, if ever the actress would like to accept his challenge, he would be glad to endorse Agot to an office where she could be qualified to be part of the system.
“Sana talaga makapag-trabaho kayo sa gobyerno. In fact, I challenge you. I respectfully challenge you. If you accept, I will personally ask my bosses if we could endorse you to an office that you are qualified for. After a year, I am almost sure that you would be kinder, slower to anger and judgment, and perhaps, more enlightened as a human being.”
