The 2019 SEA Games has been marred by several problems from the onset which resulted in resounding backlash from netizens.

Prior to its opening, the PhP 55 million cauldron became the center of controversy for alleged overpricing and impropriety.

Aside from the cauldron, many of the SEA Games venues were also not yet ready days before the start of the games. Different media entities reported the yet to be finished renovations of the Rizal Memorial Stadium a day before the start of the football game. The Philsports Arena in Pasig where volleyball games are set to be held was also being completed days before the start of the games.

Aside from problems in different venues, foreign and local teams brought up problems in food, transportation, and hotel accommodation.

But after all their concerns were raised and made rounds on both traditional and social media, the problems have started to be addressed and fixed prior to the official opening of the games on Saturday, November 30.
