GMA Network confirmed that a production freelancer tested positive for COVID-19 and is currently being treated in a hospital.

The network is working closely with the Department of Health and the LGU by means of the officials of barangay to ensure that the protocols required for coping with the situation are followed.

Both personnel and talents who had prior contact with the talent and second-level contacts have been advised and are closely tracking their health conditions.

At ABS-CBN, Christopher de Leon confirmed on Tuesday, March 17, that he had tested positive for coronavirus or COVID-19, the first local celebrity to do so.

He also confirmed that he hadn’t recently traveled abroad and had no contact with recognized patients for coronavirus.

“Due to the nature of my work in the entertainment business, I have interacted with many people. I therefore ask anyone who has come in contact me within the last week or two to observe stringent self-quarantine, observe for symptoms and follow the triage procedures published by the DOH, whether asymptomatic or not.”

As of this writing, there are 552 COVID-19 cases in the country, with 33 deaths and 19 patients who recovered.
