Transgender actor BB Gandanghari couldn’t help but feel emotional about missing her old self as Rustom Padilla.
In a live session on Instagram, some netizens asked if BB could go back to when she was still Rustom, then maybe BB could vlog about her transformation.
BB Gandanghari even addressed her previous self as her ‘twin’ who is older than her,
“Babalikan natin ang aking kambal, si Kuya Rustom, mas matanda sa akin yun, e. Na-late ako ng 30 years.”
“Babalikan natin si Rustom. Magpaalam tayo sa kanya nang mahusay.”
Trying to convey her emotions about her old self, BB got emotional remembering about her ‘twin’
“Naalala ko si Rustom, naiyak ako. Echos! Hahaha! Paano natin gagawin? Ano ba yun! Hindi pa nag-uumpisa, iyak na.”
She clarified that she was just reminiscing and she does not regret the decision to be true to herself.
“Don’t get me wrong. Wala akong gusto balikan. Ang sinasabi ko lang, that guy is a good guy…”
BB Gandanghari is one of the most prominent LGBTQ+ members in the Philippines.
It was in Pinoy Big Brother: Balikbahay, where Rustom revealed her real identity to Keanna Reeves and this revelation went viral.
Acknowledging her old self, BB said that without Rustom she won’t be having the life that she’s having right now,
“Si Rustom ang nagparaya para magkaroon ako ng sariling buhay kaya ako naiiyak.”
Gandanghari came out as a trans in January 2009, and chose to undergo surgery for gender confirmation.
Her brother, action star Robin Padilla, said he supported the decision in its entirety at first, but later he denied this.
Their mother and all the other siblings of Gandanghari continue to refer to her by the name Rustom.
