Filipino YouTube sensation Bretman Rock called out those who make fun of immigrant kids who can’t speak English.
According to the Filipino American YouTuber, he grew up in fear of speaking his own native tongue.
“Growing up, I was always ashamed of speaking my own native language because I was scared of what my friends would think.”
But as the years passed, Bretman realized the advantage of being able to speak many languages.
“Now that I am older… wow I can speak English and other languages. I can communicate and comprehend other languages.”
Back in 2014, Bretman showed how proud he is of his Filipino roots in one of his vlogs where he cooks adobo with his mom all while switching between English and Ilocano.
He said that English is easy to study and comprehend compared to his native language.
“And people who live in America only know English, English is the easiest language to learn.”
Recently, Bretman had returned to the Philippines when his father died, but his visit became controversial.
The 21-year-old beauty blogger said he was visited by fans, both at home and at the funeral, who begged him for photos.
Can people just let me be sad for onces…. I’m here in the Philippines for my dad who just passed, don’t come to my house and ask me for pictures.. so many people showed up to my dads funeral uninvited and started taking pics of my dad and my family..
