Kapamilya actress and philanthropist Angel Locsin didn’t think twice about calling out Senate President Tito Sotto on Twitter.

In a tweet Saturday evening, Angel called the attention of Sotto after she saw a tweet tagging her as an NPA supporter was liked by the Senate President’s Twitter account.

Angel said she will never support any terrorist and or any kind of violence. But while she respects the right of Sotto to like any tweets, she hopes she won’t be tagged as a terrorist for voicing her right to dissent.

“Hi Sen @sotto_tito, saw that you liked this tweet. I will never support terrorists, nor will I ever support any kind of violence. You have the right to like any tweet. And we have the right to voice out our opinions. I hope we don’t get tagged as [a] terrorist for doing so. Thank you,” she said.

She also added, “I don’t think so… I’m very vocal sa nangyari sa saf 44 and marawi seige.. I’ve supported the AFP and PNP with some of their campaigns and during this pandemic. You can ask them. I think you need to do more research & stop reading fake news”

Angel has been publicly vocal about her stand in socio-political issues.

On Instagram, Angel posted an old photo of women protesting to be given the right to vote. She captioned it: “Not a terrorist. http://chng.it/WRjRGHyj4d #junkterrorbill”

A basher immediately commented on her post and tagged her as a terrorist.

@helenoftroy28: “Ikaw ang tunay na terorista hindi mo na intindihan kung ano ang terror bill total supporter ka naman ng npa doon ka sa syria or iraq nakatira kasi noon doon ang mga kalahi mo.”

Meanwhile, several celebrities and netizens shared their support for Angel.

All of them reminded Sotto why fears about the anti-terror bill are legit thus the growing opposition to it.

This is the main reason why we are against the Anti-Terrorism Bill. We lost our trust to police power because anytime, they might/will tag anyone as terrorist to justify or silence those who they want.

Ang kikitid ng mga utak! Kailangan ng tanggalin ang mga yan sa puesto. Huwag inyo ng iboto uli kasi! Maawa kayo sa bayan!

This is why we call to #JUNKTERROBILLNOW . Wala pa man kung sino-sino na narered-tag. This is scary lalo na sa mga sobrang outspoken sa pagpuna ng mali sa sistema.

Hello, Senator. Ito po mismo ang red tagging na sa batas na pilit pinapasa ay mas madaling magawan ng excuse sa paghuli kahit suspucion lamang. Implementation can be easily abused. Many experts, those who study the law, have condemned it, Senator.

Meanwhile, prior to Angel’s red-tagging, Mocha Uson labeled protesters against the anti-terror bill as terrorists.

Mocha was retweeting Sen. Tito Sotto’s tweet saying activism is not terrorism when she said that “the terrorists” are now gathering in anger pertaining to the protesters.

Mocha Uson called the protesters “mga terorista.” This further proves that anyone can be labeled a terrorist. Literally anyone!

And this also answers Sen. Sotto’s question. Yes po, senator, si Mocha Uson po ang gagong nagsabing terrorism ang activism. pic.twitter.com/017MtuMi6o
