Alessandra de Rossi clarifies non-appearance at physical rallies

Multi-awarded actress Alessandra de Rossi took to Twitter to explain her decision not to physically attend rallies to support ABS-CBN employees.

In the past weeks, ABS-CBN supporters and employees have staged noise barrage rallies to protest the killing of ABS-CBN franchise by the 70 Duterte-allied lawmakers.

It was at the July 18 rally where Angel Locsin slammed some Kapamilya stars who remained silent amidst the ongoing harassment of ABS-CBN which resulted in the loss of jobs of many Kapamilya employees.

“Sa lahat ng artistang hindi nagsasalita, ano? May career pa ba kayo?

Angel didn’t mean having people be physically present at rallies, but to use their voice to speak up against the injustices that many are facing these days.

Meanwhile, as a former Kapamilya actress, netizens asked Alex’s take on rallies.

In a series of tweets, Alex clarified that she is not afraid to fight and support ABS-CBN but she’s afraid of getting infected by COVID-19.

In a reply to a netizen who asked her about her stand on the issue, Alex said she’s not mentally ready for physical rallies because of the pandemic.

“May covid… Maawa ka. Tsaka di ako okay (mentally) pag madaming tao. Birthday party nga, di ako umaattend, rally pa?”

May covid. 😂😂😂 Maawa ka. Tsaka di ako okay (mentally) pag madaming tao. Birthday party nga, di ako umaattend, rally pa? 😂 https://t.co/PvDu8fgk7T

De Rossi also added that she’s been doing the best she can to show support online with her personal opinions and conviction but reiterated that there are different ways on how to fight for a cause.

She said she would want to finish the COVID pandemic first because if not she might be the first to go.

“Pasok James Ingram…. I dedma best… But I guess my best wasn’t good enough! I pray you look beyond your personal opinions. Baka iba kinatatakutan nya.

Wala akong planong matalo dyan. https://t.co/Md8T5iQfE0

De Rossi also brought up how divisive the issue is causing now.

Yung totoo? 😂

In the end, she said she respects everyone’s opinion and how one wanted to fight. But she would also respect those who will continue fighting online because of the fear of COVID-19.

I respect everyone who fights, I respect everyone who shuts up, for now…till may covid. And I will end it with the same statement, hindi ako takot lumaban. Peas!
