Actress Rita Avila pointed out the government’s long-drawn investigation of the PhilHealth corruption as until now, no officials have been penalized.
In an Instagram post, Avila quoted the statement of Sen. Richard Gordon who said, “Sigaw lang tayo nang ng sigaw sa kongreso pero walang nangyayari. People don’t go to jail.”
Also included was a statement from President Rodrigo Duterte saying, “Itong Philhealth, sabi ko yayariin ko kayo, maniwala kayo. Kung nakalusot kayo sa ibang presidente, sa akin sadsad.”

In spite of Duterte’s statement, there is not clear progress of the investigation for these corrupt officials.
Some thought that it is backed by the DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III who is a very close friend of President Duterte.
“How much are you willing to bet that the Philhealth issue will just go away, like everything else, without any positive action?”
To recall, PhilHealth’s former anti-fraud officer Thorrsson Montes Keith labeled Duque as the “godfather” of PhilHealth as he believes that the latter is involved with this ‘mafia’ inside the health insurance agency.
The fraud inside PhilHealth amounted to 15 billion pesos stolen by these syndicates involving executive officials.
