Just like other Kapamilya artists, actor Carlo Aquino took to social media to show support for ABS-CBN and its employees who lost their jobs brought about by the denial of the network’s franchise.
In an Instagram post, the A Soldier’s Heart star stated that saying thank you would not be enough to show his gratitude to all Kapamilya workers who gave their life and service not only to the network but to all the Filipino viewers.
“Hindi sapat ang mga salitang ‘maraming salamat’. Darating ang panahon na buburahin natin ang kahapon. At sabay sabay tayong babangon. Darating ang araw na magkikita tayong muli, walang bahid ng kahit ano kun’di ngiti. Hanggang sa muli.”
August 31 was a dark day for ABS-CBN as thousands of its employees were let go by the network due to the non-renewal of their franchise.
This after the House Committee on Legislative Franchise vote to deny the Kapamilya network’s franchise application. With the vote of 70-11, the congress sealed the fate of ABS-CBN’s TV and radio operations
With the denial, ABS-CBN had no choice but to enforce the painful retrenchment program, letting go of thousands of its employees who devoted their service for decades to the network.
Currently, ABS-CBN programs can be viewed on Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite direct TVs.
ABS-CBN also set the trend in television online streaming via its digital platform Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube and Facebook.
