On September 13, Kapamilya artist Karylle listed the differences she noticed in Tawag ng Tanghalan contestants from before the pandemic up to the new normal.
During the media conference, Karylle said that TNT singers are more eager to perform now more than ever.
“‘Yung iba talagang singing like there’s no tomorrow. ‘Yung sabik.”
She also admired the bravery of contestants in pursuing their passion amid the pandemic.
“Iba din ‘yung timpla. ‘Yung iba natakot sila dati o para mayroong ‘gagawin ko ba pangarap ko?’ Pero dahil ngayon napapaisip tayo, pinagninilay-nilayan natin kung ano nga bang gusto kong ma-achieve sa buhay ko. So a lot of them are actually becoming brave.
“‘Yung mga parang they put their dreams on hold for so long. Ngayon parang nagkaroon sila ng bagong lakas.”
She then noted that their eagerness and bravery gave them an edge in possibly winning the competition.
“Yung tapang at ‘yung gigil.
“Parang, may something different din. There’s that extra sparkle sa mata nila.”
Tawag ng Tanghalan Huling Tapatan Season 5 has eight grand finalists vying for the coveted title. They are Reiven Umali, Froilan Cedilla, Psalm Manalo, Gem Christian, Adrian Manibale, Anthony Castillo, Lorraine Galvez, and Aixia Mallary.
During the media conference, Karylle also recalled the most impactful life story of a previous TNT contestant.
“Actually ‘yung naiisip ko is ‘yung kay Tuko na nasa Boracay siya everyday, nagbebenta ng pagkain.”
Karylle also shared behind-the-scenes moments as a judge in Tawag ng Tanghalan during the pandemic.
“Ang pinaka naging impact sa akin this cycle, si Ate Jaya and ‘yung nagiging sayawan namin every commercial break. ‘Yung just trying to keep our energy happy as everyone is going through something.”
