On December 18, actor Dingdong Dantes shared how he balances accepting adaptations and original projects.
During the media conference for his Metro Manila Film Festival movie, A Hard Day, Dantes said he accepts projects with a ratio favoring more original projects than adaptations.
“Ang guiding principle ko po diyan bilang isang artist ay, I make sure na balanse ang lahat. Meaning, let’s say mayroon akong sampung gagawin sisiguraduhin ko ‘yung dalawa doon okay siya na remake. Pero sisiguraduhin ko ‘yung walong gagawin ko ay sisiguraduhin kong original ‘yun talagang atin talaga.”
As for choosing his next undertaking after his MMFF 2021 movie, Dantes assured fans that he would still have TV projects.
“We’ll take it a day at a time, marami ring gustong gawin pero ngayon medyo mas easy-easy na muna dahil iba na rin ‘yung the way we do things right now is different from how we are doing it before.
“Pipiliin muna kung ano ‘yung pwede, kung ano ‘yung safe, kung ano ‘yung exciting. ‘Yung TV hindi mawawala ‘yan, I will still be doing television shows.”
He then teased an upcoming project with his wife, Primetime Queen, Marian Rivera.
“We’re working on something. The answer is yes, we’re working on something. So malalaman niyo po kung ano ‘yun very, very soon.”
He also expressed interest in working on a biopic of his co-actor, John Arcilla.
“So kaya masaya lang ako na ipapalabas na ito. I don’t know kung ano ‘yung next. Kung anong role, hindi ko pa rin alam, pero sabi ko baka pwede biopic. Kung sinong gagampanan, baka pwedeng si John Arcilla.”
Dingdong Dantes stars in the crime-action thriller, A Hard Day. Directed by Lawrence Fajardo; the Viva Films’ official entry for the Metro Manila Film Festival also stars the 2021 Venice Film Festival’s Volpi Cup Best Actor John Arcilla.
The Filipino adaptation of the 2014 Korean film premieres on Christmas Day alongside eight selected movies for the festival.
