Jay Altarejos asserts that art isn’t enough to help solve the country’s problems

On November 30, progressive director Jay Altarejos said art isn’t enough to help solve the country’s problems.

During the talkback with the filmmakers of Walang Kasarian Ang Digmang Bayan, Altarejos said that artists should go beyond filmmaking to help solve societal issues.

“Sana we go beyond what we are doing, we go beyond our personal spaces.

He also acknowledged it wasn’t easy to make progressive films in the current political climate.

He then revealed why he chose to release Walang Kasarian Ang Digmang Bayan on November 30 during Andres Bonifacio Day.

So festival nanaman ba sa abroad? Pero mag-aantay ‘yun next year.

“Makakapag-antay ba ‘yung pelikulang may ganito, next year baka iba na ‘yung presidente mo.

Walang Kasarian Ang Digmang Bayan premiered on November 30 via KTX.PH . The progressive LGBTQIA+ film stars Oliver Aquino, Rita Avila, Ruby Ruiz, Chai Fonacier, Iana Bernardez, Bunny Cadag, Archi Adamos, Arnold Reyes, and Sandino Martin.
