In a virtual press conference held on December 3 for the contract renewal of Kapuso comedian Sef Cadayona, he revealed that he is ready for a possibly significant change in the new phase of his career on the GMA Network.
According to Cadayona, he is ready to show his versatility as an actor.
If given the opportunity to star in a heavy drama project, he would not hesitate to accept it. Although it was a big adjustment for him since he had been a comedian for several years, Cadayona is ready and willing to learn.
“I guess pag nakita ko ‘yung material, igugugol ko talaga ‘yung buong panahon at atensyon ko, gagawin at gagawin ko ‘yun. Lalo na hiwalay siya sa kung ano ‘yung ginagawa ko na ng ilang taon. It’s my chance to develop something new for myself also. Ito ‘yung mga bagay na hindi ko ginagawa pero pag-aaralan ko nang mabuti. Without a doubt tatanggapin ko ‘yun.”
Now that the BL or Boy Love series is so popular, the comedian is also eager to accept this project. Although gay roles are not new to him, it will still be a challenge because it is no longer comedy.
“Ofcourse! Lalo na kung ‘yung ipapakita mo ay kwento ng totoong pagmamahal, iba e! Iba ‘yung rehistro ng emosyon nun sa tao. I guess, oo nakikita ako ng tao na ginagawa ‘yun [gay roles] pero on the comedy side. Bilang isang umaarte gusto ko rin maipakita ‘yung mga ganoong bagay sa ibang genre naman.
“Ano ‘yun e, very humbling and for me magiging grateful ako sa ganoong experience,” shared Cadayona.
Starstruck Alumnus Sef Cadayona also mentioned that he dreams of working with John Lloyd Cruz and Dingdong Dantes.
He has been admiring the former Kapamilya actor for a long time, so it would be a great honor if he could work with him.
Cadayona shared, “Si John Lloyd [Cruz]. Idol ko siya noon pa e. Hindi ko maikakaila na idol ko siya noon pa and I guess nakaka-happy kasi whenever I got to watch him I am with my family, isa ‘yun sa mga tumatatak e. Lalo na ako mahilig ako manood ng TV, so feeling ko isang napakalaking blessing din kung makapag-trabaho kami once in my lifetime.”
In his ten years on the Kapuso network, he has met Dingdong Dantes on various GMA shows several times but is still unable to work with him.
“Saka isa pa si Kuya Dong, hindi pa kami nakakapagtrabaho. Nakaka-work ko noon si Kuya Dong kapag regional shows sa Party Pilipinas, Sunday All Stars, All-Out-Sundays but ‘yung masasabi kong nakasama ko siya sa eksena, may ginawa kaming isang serye, or mapa-guest siya sa Bubble Gang, hindi pa nangyari ‘yun. I guess nakapag-guest na siya before sa Bubble [Gang] pero hindi pinatagpo, hindi kami nagka-eksena. Isa ‘yun sa magiging dream come true kung makakatrabaho ko si Sir Dong,” he added.
With his contract renewal at GMA Artist Center, Sef Cadayona looks forward to developing something new to offer to Kapuso viewers.
