On February 8, Kapamilya love team Karina Bautista and Aljon Mendoza (KarJon) answered why they wouldn’t give up on their love team.
During the media conference for Maalaala Mo Kaya February 2022 Episodes, Bautista highlighted the opportunities they received as a pair as her reason not to give up on her love team with Mendoza.
“‘Yung partnership naman namin hindi madali as love team and as friends. So actually, nasabi ko ‘yun more recently lang kasi lalo na nagkakaroon kami ng ganitong pagkakataon, opportunity na binibigay sa amin. Parang kaming dalawa, we want to do our best.”
“Ayaw namin i-give up ‘yung mayroon na kami, ‘yung binibigay na sa amin na opportunity. Parang i-push na namin ‘to, like now we have Viral Scandal and we have MMK, and may hinahanda pa sa aming bago. So parang, yes, why not make the most out of the blessing na given na ngayon. And, love naman namin ‘yung friendship namin and ‘yung ginagawa namin so laban na.”
Mendoza then explained that it’s a choice for him not to give up on their love team.
“Ako siguro, ever since, every day choice siya na ilaban talaga. At tsaka gusto talaga namin ‘to.”
He then recalled how their fans campaigned for the pair to have an MMK episode.
“Actually, ‘yung mga supporters namin nag-Tweet sila kahapon nung malaman nilang may MMK episode kami ni Karina, parang nag-look back sila noong 2019 kasi nagpo-post sila, na parang nagre-request sila na parang, ‘Sana po magkaroon ng MMK episode ang KarJon.’
“So parang three years, parang nagkatotoo. Parang doon papasok sayo na ‘Oo nga no, may pinupuntahan naman itong ginagawa namin.”
He then thanked their fans for their support, noting how proud he was of them.
“And nakaka-proud pa din at the same time and sa mga supporters namin at the same time na hanggang ngayon nandito pa rin sila para sa amin and siyempre nakaka-excite pa rin na nagkakaroon kami ng bagong experiences at goals na na-aachieve namin ganon. So yeah, fight lang.”
Bautista and Mendoza team up for their first Maalaala Mo Kaya project wherein they portray a young couple, Theza and John.
