One familiar app, a new way to ride: Lalamove Ride gives Filipino commuters another way to get moving

For many Filipino commuters, the hardest part of the journey, sometimes, is securing a ride. Long waits, repeated driver cancellations, and surge pricing can make even short trips stressful. Lalamove, the leading on-demand delivery and ride-hailing platform, addresses these challenges through Lalamove Ride, offering commuters another reliable way to get where they need to be.

As demand for ride-hailing services continues to exceed available supply during peak hours, booking a ride has become another hurdle for commuters already navigating Metro Manila’s heavy traffic. In 2025, motorists in Metro Manila lost an average of 143 hours—nearly six days—to rush-hour congestion, according to the latest Traffic Index of Dutch location technology firm TomTom, which ranked the Philippines as the most congested country in Asia.

The hardest part of a ride-hailing trip often happens before the car arrives. Open an app, book, wait. The driver cancels. Try another app, watch the fare climb, then go back to the first. By the third attempt, the meeting has started, the rain has not let up, and the ride is still not coming.

It is a familiar form of booking fatigue: time and patience lost before the trip even begins.

“A major pain point of commuters is that there are not enough available cars at the exact hours everyone needs one,” said Djon Nacario, Managing Director, Lalamove Philippines. “At Lalamove, we believe solving mobility challenges starts with making rides more accessible and dependable for everyday commuters. With our almost 20,000-and-counting qualified ride-hailing partner drivers already on the road every day, Lalamove Ride helps increase the availability of rides when demand is high. By leveraging the strength of our partner driver network and the technology that powers our platform, we’re helping reduce booking fatigue and giving Filipinos another reliable option to get where they need to be.”

Lalamove Ride is the passenger transport service built into the same app many Filipinos already know and use for deliveries. Guided by its commitment to helping communities move, Lalamove entered the ride-hailing market in February 2025, extending that commitment by making everyday commutes more reliable and convenient for Filipinos. With rides now available in the same familiar app, users can book both deliveries and passenger trips without needing to download a new app or learn a new platform.

Moreover, Lalamove is letting partner drivers keep 100% of their fares. This initiative for drivers, which started in December 2025 and has been extended until the end of 2026, makes Lalamove the only ride-hailing platform in the country to offer this with no terms or conditions. Qualified drivers can accept both ride and delivery bookings after completing the required registration. For passengers, more active drivers could improve the chances of securing a ride when demand is high.

“Commission stays at 0% for the rest of the year, with no conditions or catch,” Nacario said. “When partner drivers take home one hundred percent of every fare with zero deductions, they have a real reason to accept more Ride bookings, and every accepted booking is one less commuter left waiting.”

Booking works the way existing users would expect. Riders enter a pick-up point and destination, then choose Car for everyday trips or Car XL for bigger groups or more luggage. The service covers NCR, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan, plus selected areas of Pampanga and Tarlac. Longer point-to-point trips outside the metro are also possible where coverage allows.

Reinforcing its dedication to safety, Lalamove Ride combines technology-enabled safeguards and operational standards to help provide a secure and reliable experience for both passengers and partner drivers. Safety features include a strict driver registration process, real-time GPS tracking, 24/7 in-app chat, an SOS emergency button, and accident insurance provided by Chubb.

Both sides get an extra push this quarter. Passengers who opt in to the “Ride Your Way to Your Next Getaway” mission in the app earn a raffle entry for every completed ride, with a trip for two to Japan as the grand prize, covering round-trip flights, hotel accommodation, pocket money, and a day tour. The promotion runs until September 30, 2026, under DTI Fair Trade Permit No. FTEB-238247, Series of 2026. A separate “Drive & Win a Family Trip to Boracay” raffle for Ride partner drivers runs until the same date, with tiered entries for completed ride orders and weekly ₱1,500 GCash draws.

For the commuter whose first booking has just been canceled, the proposition is simple: another place to try, within an app already on the phone.

Passengers can book by opening the Lalamove app and selecting Ride. Qualified drivers may apply through the Lalamove Driver app. For more information about Lalamove Ride, visit https://www.lalamove.com/en-ph/ride or follow Lalamove Philippines on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
