On May 6, seasoned actor Romnick Sarmenta talked about the importance of voicing his opinions on social media.
At the media conference for KathNiel’s series 2 Good 2 Be True, Sarmenta said he tried to point out the truth as he saw it.
“Sometimes, my words can come across as being harsh, even judgmental, but I always try as much as I can to point out kung ano yung totoong nakita ko, and that’s what I will talk about. I will not talk about other people. I’m just going to talk about the truth as I see it.”
He also noted that his opinions on social media was a matter of a personal conviction guided by his faith and love for his family.
“It’s always a personal conviction. When it’s true and you want to fight for something that you believe in it has to be a personal conviction. I can’t tell people, ‘O, ito ‘yung ipaglaban mo, ito ‘yung gawin mo kasi ito ang tama.’Maari kasing hindi tama para sa kanya ‘yung tama para sa akin eh.
“My convictions are always hopefully, guided by my faith in God, pangalawa ‘yung pagmamahal ko sa mga anak ko, sa pamilya ko, sa kasama ko sa buhay.”
He then clarified that he uses his voice as a celebrity to help others.
“And with those as my guide–I also have to sift through the many things I want to talk about. Ano ba talaga ‘yung importante. What would help others. What has a better, broader benefit for others.
‘Yun muna ang kailangan kong isipin, hindi lang ‘yung gusto ko, kung di ano ‘yung tingin kong makakabuti para sa iba.”
