On July 13, Viva artist Ava Mendez recalled how she passed out in a harness while filming a scene in her upcoming movie Purificacion.
During the media conference for Purificacion, Mendez cited the challenges she faced while they were on the set of the Vivamax sexy-thriller.
“Nahirapan din ako sa isang role ko doon sa harness kasi first time ko sa harness, and then nahimatay ako.
“And then mayroon kaming scene na kasama ko ‘yung lahat ng girls doon sa scene and then hindi nila ata napansin, parang ako lang ‘yung nakapansin, kinukuhanan kami, and then parang doon sa may corner, na medyo madilim, may parang nagpakita, so parang naka-attract nanaman kami ulit.”
She then explained that she passed out because of her cleansing diet, which she started after her previous Viva project, Ang Babaeng Nawawala sa Sarili.
“After ko mag-pull out sa Ang Babaeng Nawawala sa Sarili shoot, nagpahinga lang ako for like three to four days and then nasa peak kasi ako ng diet ko, so hindi ako pwedeng kumain ng solid food, so iniinom ko lang, nagki-cleansing lang ako for three days– three to four days, so ‘yung pang fourth day ko, ‘yun ‘yung first shoot namin doon sa Purificacion, doon sa gubat, parang ganon.
“Tapos nahimatay ako sa harness kasi wala akong tinetake na kahit ano, so water lang ako, and then ‘yung dala ko na smoothies, tapos wala akong solid food na kinain, kaya doon na ako inatake–nahimatay na ako.”
As for her career, Mendez expressed her gratitude to Viva for the opportunities she received despite the pandemic.
“Blessed kasi during the pandemic, nabigyan kami ng work. And then, first time ko na mag-sign, last year, kasagsagan ng pandemic, nag-sign ako with Viva. After noong, nag-sign ako with Viva, ni-launch kami, sabay kami ni Karen and Steph for the Pornstar 2. So ‘yun po blessing ‘yun sa akin, and tuloy-tuloy po ‘yung work ko ngayon.”
Mendez recounted her sacrifices for her career, including her business and family ties.
“And then ‘yung sacrifice ko, hindi ko na masyado natutukan ‘yung mga dati kong ginagawa, like doing my business, and then ‘yung sa family ko, kasi I’m not into politics, so parang nadismaya sila, and ako naman ayaw ko ng ganon.
“Wala ko–hindi ko forte ‘yung for being in a politics, although gusto ko ring tumulong, hindi ko na siguro kailangan i-claim kung ano pa ‘yung like, kung tatakbo ako in the future, kasi mas masaya ako dito na gusto ko talaga mag artista.”
As for her movie, Ava Mendez stars in the sexy-thriller Purification. The cast includes Cara Gonzales, Josef Elizalde, Quinn Carillo, Stephanie Raz, and Kat Dovey.
Purificacion, directed by GB Sampedro, premieres on August 5, 2022, via Vivamax.
