Barbie Forteza and David Licauco were overwhelmed by the support of their fans and the formation of their FiLay love team.
Forteza and Licauco star in GMA’s historical portal fantasy series ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra.’ Forteza’s character is named Klay, and Licauco’s character is Fidel.
Fans got amused with the interaction between Klay and Fidel, that made them root for the two.
In an interview with Nelson Canlas in October 2022, Forteza revealed that her character and Licauco’s character were not supposed to get paired.
“Natatawa ako kasi, even when we were doing the scenes, yung mga ipinapalabas ngayon, hindi naman talaga namin intensyon na magpakilig,” she said.
On the other hand, Licauco was also surprised when fans linked his character with Forteza’s. He then said it was all thanks to Forteza’s great acting skills.
“’Pag kaeksena mo siya, for me, parang natural na lang na magre-react na lang ako sa mga binibigay niya sa ‘kin,” he said.
On Twitter, netizens expressed their support for the FiLay love team. They said that the two have a natural chemistry in the series.

Maria Clara at Ibarra airs on weekdays on the GMA network. It premiered on October 3 and will run for 20 weeks until February 2023.
