The award-winning actress and former politician celebrated her 69th birthday on November 3.
The Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos-Recto, did not forget to send regards to ABS-CBN and the Sunday noontime musical variety show, ASAP Natin ‘To, for remembering her birthday. A special tribute was performed by ASAP Natin ‘To stars last Sunday, November 6, to pay tribute to the works of the award-winning actress.
OPM icons Martin Nievera, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, and Jolina Magdangal, among others, performed hits popularized by Santos and her most popular films and TV shows. Through the segment, The Greatest Showdown, seasoned singers and newbies, alike, gathered on one stage, to remember the finest works and music of the only Star for All Season., whose showbiz career, spans five decades.
On Facebook, Santos-Recto thanked ABS-CBN for remembering her very special day, as well as her finest contributions to local showbiz. “Isang taos pusong pasasalamat ASAP family sa tribute na inihanda ninyo para sa aking kaarawan at ika-60 anibersaryo sa showbiz.
“(My heartfelt gratitude to my ASAP family for the tribute you prepared for my birthday and my 60th anniversary in showbiz),” she posted. Santos notably rose to fame, via the movie adaptation of Mars Ravelo’s Trudis Liit in 1963. She was 10 when she starred in the film and catapulted to inordinate fame.
”To my ABS-CBN family, thank you very much for remembering these very important milestones in my life. With my love and gratitude, Kapamilya,” she added.
Santos-Recto has long maintained a professional relationship with ABS-CBN. Many of her most recent movies are with Star Cinema, the network’s movie production arm.
Her last film under the movie outfit, is notably the 2016 drama, Everything About Her, in which she starred alongside Angel Locsin and Xian Lim. Her comeback film is reported with Star Cinema, next year.
