FedEx Express, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) and one of the world’s largest express transportation companies, through its global community engagement program FedEx Cares, collaborated with Haribon Foundation to reforest Mt. Batolusong in the south end of the Sierra Madre Mountain range.
FedEx held a tree planting activity on November 18 at Brgy. San Andres in Tanay, Rizal where 40 FedEx volunteers worked together to plant over 1,000 seedlings of indigenous trees.
“At FedEx, we are committed to serve the communities where we live and work. This collaboration with Haribon Foundation is one of the ways we are delivering sustainable solutions to support local community needs,” said Maribeth Espinosa, acting managing director, FedEx Philippines.
From 2001 to 2021, the Philippines lost 1.34 million hectares of tree cover, which corresponds to 784 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent emissions.
Reforestation activities help surrounding communities by providing livelihood and bringing back ecological health to their natural resources.
This project is part of the FedEx Cares 50 by 50 campaign, which aims to positively impact 50 million people around the world by the company’s 50th anniversary in 2023.
