Alden Richard revealed that he and Julie Anne San Jose previously had a romantic connection.
In an interview with Boy Abunda on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda on January 25, Richards opened up about the women in his life.
When asked about the individuals he got romantically linked with, which almost led to a relationship, Richards admitted that San Jose was among them.
Their relationship did not work out as Richards decided to focus more on his career.
“I decided to mag-focus na lang po talaga sa work. ‘Yun po ‘yung inihingi ko ng sorry sa kanya. It’s a long time [ago]. Parang naiwan ko po siya.
“’Yung part po kasi kay Julie Anne, ‘yun po ‘yung parang pinakamabigat,” he said.
The actor then explained that he has been avoiding San Jose because he felt that the actress still needed the time to heal.
“Naniniwala po kasi ako na time heals everything and mahirap po kasing ipilit na gusto mong magkaayos kayo. Pero ‘yung panahon, hindi pa tama, kasi sariwa pa po ‘yung sugat. Hindi po natin madidikta sa puso natin kung kailan gagaling yun. It really depends upon the person,” said Richards.
But after some time, Richards got the courage to personally talk to the singer-actress when they were together in a Sunday PinaSaya rehearsal.
“So Sunday Pinasaya, rehearsal, may green room po tayo sa Studio 7. Nung kami na lang dalawa na lang sa green room, ni-lock ko po yung pinto. And then I talked to her.
“I’m really sorry for what happened. Iniwan kita. There’s no one to blame but me and sana napatawad mo na ako,” those were the words he was able to muster in saying.
“May term po ako na ginamit… ‘I was an assh*le… I was an assh*le and I am very sorry. Sana mapatawad mo na ako,” he said.
After his conversation with San Jose, the actor felt relief in his heart from a burden that he has been holding for a long time.
“Parang may relief po sa kalooban, na parang for the longest time iniiwasan ko rin po siya pero noong nangyari yung moment na ‘yun, may dala pala rin ako,” he explained.
As of this writing, San Jose still did not release a statement regarding Richards’s revelations.
Richards and San Jose worked together in GMA’s variety show Sunday PinaSaya from 2015-2019 where their brief romance accordingly started.
