Suzette Doctolero feels “betrayed by fans” who spoiled events of ‘Maria Clara at Ibarra’ future episodes

The series is now down to its last few weeks on the air, as it now transitions to the events of Rizal’s second book, El Filibusterismo.

Kapuso headwriter, Suzette Doctolero, aired her frustration over Maria Clara at Ibarra spoilers that have been spreading on social media. The series is now transitioning to the events of El Filibusterismo, the sequel to Jose Rizal’s Noli Me Tangere, from which the first part of the top-rating Kapuso series is based.

Doctolero is the head of the creative team of many of GMA Network’s groundbreaking and top-rated teleseryes, which include the currently airing TV adaptation of Rizal’s prized novels.

On Twitter, Doctolero expressed her dismay, as some clips captured from the series shoot went up online, spoiling crucial events in the show’s upcoming episodes.

“Nakakainis talaga mga taong nag-a upload ng spoilers. Pakiramdam namin ay nabebetray kaming lahat at nasasayang ang pagod ng lahat all because may isang gustong magyabang na una siyang magbibigay info, ” tweeted the seasoned screenwriter, who revealed how the spoilers have been affecting the production team’s morale, given how such spoilers invalidated all their efforts.

Doctolero also noted how illegal uploaders deprive fans of the excitement and suspense that future episodes are likely to bring.

“Sobra naman. Nai-spoil ang ang sense of suspense ng audience sa ginagawa niyo, ” she added.

Historian Xiao Chua, meanwhile, addressed those who just accidentally spoiled future events in Maria Clara at Ibarra, but are not actually followers of show.

“Ang nakakainis, yung location bystander ay accidental ang ginawa niyang spoiler kasi hindi siya nanonood noong show at kung ano anong sinasabi doon sa broadcast. Hindi niya kilala yung ng characters, lalo na si Fidel,” he tweeted.

“Ang mga tao ngayon sobrang maaangas. Privileged lagi. Walang respeto. Damaso at Salvi ang mga peg. Mas panig sa dilim, ” tweeted @reyes_elf, who likened spoiler-givers to the show’s characters, Padre Damaso and Padre Salvi.

“Yes madam. Nakailang saway na ko sa mga comment section ng mga nagpopost sa tktok ang mas nakakainis pa ih maliban sa BTS pati mismong scene pinapakita hanggat maaari pinipilit ko sarili ko maging kalmado habang sumasaway,” agreed geo, who obviously came across with the said spoilers.

While it’s true many of the show’s followers may be already familiar with the events in El Filibusterismo, Doctolero shared plans of making the presentation of the show’s new chapter, in a way audience may not except.

Maria Clara at Ibarra airs after 24 Oras, Mondays through Fridays on GMA Network’s Telebabad block.
