The pilot episode of ‘Dirty Linen’ receives praise from viewers

ABS-CBN’s newest crime suspense thriller, Dirty Linen, got off to a great start.

On Monday, January 23, Dirty Linen premiered with a decent rating of 3.6 percent, beating one of its rivals, Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist, which debuted on the same day with a rating of 2.9 percent.

Meanwhile, aside from the good TV ratings, the Janine Gutierrez-led series also scored praise and warm reception from the netizens.

The pilot episode was one of the top trending topics on Twitter, with many netizens commending its plot, camera work, musical scoring, and stellar ensemble.

In his tweet, @hey_gibby gushed over the new series, saying it looked like an international Netflix series.

“That’s how you do a teleserye premiere! That’s how you get the viewers get hooked with the show! Grabeh ang intense.. I love the sound effects! And yes, I feel like watching something in Netflix. Ibang-iba ‘to.. PH teleserye gets elevated!”

@pixiecatra also tweeted about the much-talked about transition in one of the opening scenes, which features the buried bodies of the missing 4, with Donya Cielo (Tessie Tomas) singing on top of it, which is a cockpit floor.

@thomdenzel also shared his reaction, commending every aspect of the series.

“FINALLY — a high quality mystery crime thriller series in the Philippine television. From poster to cinematography to color grading to sound effects to the plot itself, everything is a banger. My love for art and suspense thriller is fed, I am fed!!!”

Social media personalities Nico Quejano and JC Punongbayan also joined the conversation, saying it was by far the best debut episode of a Pinoy teleserye and should be highly recommended to watch.

“That might be the best pilot episode I have ever seen on Philippine televsion. Ever. The first 11 minutes alone was enough to win all the awards. Jizas. Congrats po @andoyranay, @onatdiaz!!! Husay!!!!,” @nicoquejano wrote.

@jcpunongbayan tweeted “I can’t recommend #DirtyLinen enough!!! Watch on YouTube NOW!”

Netizens @bb_menita and @ivladimr also lauded the series and its cast for setting a standard in Philippine TV dramas.

“dirty linen is SOO GOOD WTF it’s so unnerving plus the musical score is sooo good too,” @bb_menita tweeted.

“Dirty Linen’s pilot episode last night was high bar! Golden Globe nominee Dolly de Leon and the rest of the cast understood the assignment and delivered. Slow clap!,” @ivladimr wrote.

Twitter personality @ricci_richy specifically praised Gutierrez and Jennica Garcia for their great performance, which he called the “Mata-Mata School of Acting.”

Meanwhile, the series’ lead star, Janine Gutierrez, also took to Twitter to thank all those who warmly supported their pilot episode.

“Thank you soooo much to everyone for tweeting and trending and watching Dirty Linen Day 2. We super appreciate you. Thank you ‍ I really really believe in our show and your support means everything – mapa team tv, tv5 or online – salamat.”

Dirty Linen airs every night at 9:30 p.m. over at TV5, A2Z, Kapamilya Channel, and Kapamilya Online Live.
