It is confirmed! Filipino singer Gigi de Lana will take a break from singing after being diagnosed with throat nodules or small bumps on her throat.
On April 26, while performing at SMDC Date Night, de Lana revealed that her doctor recommended she rest her voice.
De Lana requested her audience to sing along with her. She said, “Gusto ko sumabay kayo sa akin, kahit di niyo alam ang kanta, kunwari lang. I just want to hear you sing, because I don’t know if my voice will remain like this forever.”
The singer revealed, “Because I was diagnosed already sa throat ko, so please pray for me and now magre- rest ako for two months, and ito yung gig na talagang pinagbigyan namin.”
She added, “Mayroon po akong nodules, pero pre-nodules pa lang po yun, parang pa-ano pa lang… so kailangan ko siyang ipahinga para hindi siya lumalala.”
De Lana was worried while explaining her health condition that if she would not rest her voice, it might affect her singing.
“Yung thought na hindi ka makaka-kanta, it’s hard. Kumakanta ako since bata ako, since I was five. And nag-start ako mag-work ng 5 to 10 sa mga contest ganyan,” the singer shared.
In June De Lana will officially take her one month rest.
Although her doctor did not prescribe any medication yet, she might be prescribed steroids; and rest is a must for her.
De Lana rose to fame after she competed in the ‘Tawag ng Tanghalan’ segment of ‘It’s Showtime’.
