On June 3, TAPE Inc CEO-President Romeo “Jon” Jalosjos and TAPE Inc Chief Finance Officer Seth Frederick Bullet Jalosjos revealed ‘corruption’ and ‘issues’ inside Eat Bulaga.
In an interview with PEP, Jon Jalosjos revealed that they discovered questionable cash advances from personnel totaling millions of dollars.
“There were some advances na medyo questionable na dapat bang ibigay ‘yung mga advances na ganito kalalaki. Hindi ko pwede sabihin kasi it’s a set of person, we might file cases against them. So I cannot divulge these people. 15 million, ‘yung isa, pinakamaliit, as I recall, isang beses lang kinuha ‘yung 15 million.”
While they didn’t divulge the names of the people who requested the financial advances due to legal reasons, Jon cited that they were all deducted from the retirement of the said hosts or staff.
“Chinacharge nila sa advance retirement, doon kami pumasok na, ‘Ba’t ang dami na nito?'”
Mayor Bullet then pointed out that the people who requested the cash advance weren’t retiring.
“Tapos hindi pa siya retired. So, that’s when we started questioning these numbers, o why would you advance your retirement, yet you wouldn’t retire? Yet, ang laki ng amounts eh.”
Aside from that, Jalosjos also discussed the negotiations between them and the staff about the benefits and allowances of employees.
The siblings also pointed out questionable expenditures that ballooned despite Eat Bulaga’s stability.
Jalosjos stated that they had no choice but to leave the issue to finance due to production costs; the expenses, thus the corporate decision to make adjustments. He furthered, “When we say adjustments, hindi naman ‘yung sinasabi na nalulugi kami, adjustments wherein we can start regulating some unnecessary expenses.”
Another issue the brothers pointed out was the lack of a Human Resource Department in ‘Eat Bulaga’.
“Walang HR ang Tape. Walang HR, so hindi mo alam kung saan ka pwedeng mag-apply for promotion or salary increase. Hindi mo alam kung saan ka magpa-file para maging permanent ka. So I told them, ‘Yes we will create–‘ before this incident, ang sabi ko, ‘Ang pangit naman na tayo ang gumawa, internal.’ We hired external para fair, fair sa kumpanya, fair sa employee. Kaya naman pinitch ‘yung HR, kasi nakita naming, ‘What, 44 years walang HR?’ ‘Yung iba dito tinatanong, ‘permanent pa po ba ako?’ Mayroong 10 years, tinatanong niya kung permanent siya or hindi.”
As for the Jalosjos siblings, Jon Jalosjos is an incumbent congressman of the first district of Zamboanga del Norte. Bullet Jalosjos is currently the Mayor of Dapitan City, Zamboanga del Norte.
Earlier, Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon, alongside Dabarkads Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo, Maine Mendoza, Ryzza Mae Dizon, Wally Bayola, Ryan Agoncillo, and Allan K, parted ways with TAPE Inc, following internal issues faced by Eat Bulaga hosts and the media company.
Then on June 7, Mediaquest released a statement confirming the transfer of TVJ to TV5.
