After stepping away from the TV series ‘First Yaya’ due to lock-in taping restrictions, renowned Kapuso actress Marian Rivera-Dantes is set to return to primetime with the upcoming series ‘Against All Odds’.
The highly anticipated show will feature Rivera-Dantes alongside Kapuso actor Gabby Concepcion and a stellar cast of other Kapuso stars.
In 2020, Rivera-Dantes decided to withdraw from her role in the series ‘First Yaya’ due to lock-in taping protocols. She expressed her inability to be away from her two children, 4-year-old Zia and 1-year-old Sixto, for extended periods as taping required the cast to be isolated on set.
On June 6, the “King of Talk,” Filipino host Boy Abunda, revealed during ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’ that Rivera-Dantes would headline the upcoming primetime series. According to Abunda, Rivera-Dantes and her co-stars, including Gabby Concepcion, Kapuso actresses Max Collins, Gabby Eigenmann, and Kapuso actor Raphael Landicho, participated in the story conference held earlier that day.
In a significant announcement, Concepcion took to Instagram, tagging Rivera-Dantes and producer Popoy Caritativo. He shared his excitement about the upcoming project with the hashtag #AgainstAllOdds. He captioned the post, “Matutuloy na sa wakas!”

Rivera-Dantes also expressed her hopes for the project during a podcast interview with internet personality Nelson Canlas on Spotify earlier this year. She voiced her desire to see the project come to fruition and shared her upcoming regional commitments, urging her fans to stay tuned.
“Sana magawa na ‘yung isang project na gagawin ko, so definitely sana makita na nila ako, sana matuloy ‘tong project na ‘to and then may mga gagawin ako sa regional kaya abangan nila ako,” she said.
In 2020, Rivera-Dantes emphasized that her family is her top priority, which led her to step back from ‘First Yaya’ subsequently filled by fellow Kapuso actress Sanya Lopez.
Explaining her decision, Rivera-Dantes said, “Kasi, mahirap sa akin naka-lock in, hindi ko makikita ang mga anak. Nagpapadede pa ako kay Sixto, inaasikaso ko pa si Zia sa online class niya.”
The story conference for ‘Against All Odds’ took place earlier today, where Rivera-Dantes, Concepcion, and the rest of the cast met to discuss the series. As a mother to Zia and Sixto with her husband Dingdong Dantes, Rivera-Dantes is currently focused on balancing her upcoming projects while ensuring quality time with her family.
