AirAsia Philippines is advising its guests who are on a hunt for affordable flights to take extra precautions, especially in transacting with individuals on social media who allegedly represent the brand.

Multiple reports reached AirAsia Philippines about several Facebook groups and individuals claiming to represent the brand, even using it for their unofficial dealings offering cheap flights, tour packages, and other tourism-related products. Some Facebook groups using AirAsia’s name are also involved in promoting suspicious online transactions such as job offerings which led to Phishing and other forms of online scams.

The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline reminds the public that the purchase of tickets, offering of promos, and other ancillary products can only be done through the airasia Superapp, its website, and AirAsia’s more than 850 travel agency partners throughout the country.

“As the pioneer in low-cost air travel and an integrated digital travel and leisure platform, we want to educate and safeguard our guests from scams and other forms of online fraud, especially since most transactions are at their fingertips,” AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country Head First Officer Steve Dailisan shares.

According to a Q4 2022 study by Statista, an online data gathering platform, 51% of 1,005 polled Filipinos claimed to have been victims of Phishing – a form of fraud that collects personal information, credit card numbers, and passwords. 33% on the other hand were victims of third-party seller scams on legitimate online retail websites. The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group meanwhile noted that cyber crime cases increased to 4,104 cases from January to June 2023.

“We would like to remind our guests that personal information may be collected through airasia.com or airasia Superapp only. The moment a group or an individual allegedly representing our brand solicits your personal information or asks for money, drop the transaction immediately and report them to proper authorities,” Dailisan added.

Offering another legit promo – “Get Your Add-On: 2 Million airasia Points Giveaway” available via the airasia Superapp and airasia.com, guests booking flights and add-on ancillary products such as additional baggage allowance, choice of seats, and travel insurance from 15 August to 15 November can get a chance to win up to 500,000 airasia points which can be used for flight and hotel bookings by register thru https://www.airasia.com/aa/getyouraddon/.

The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline would also like to remind its guests that the AirAsia PISO SALE which offers PHP1 one-way base fare to local destinations and PHP588 one-way base fare to international destinations is up for grabs until 27 August 2023 for future flights from 19 February 2024 to 19 January 2025.

Stay updated with the latest travel advisories, guidelines, and booking options through the airasia Superapp, its official website (www.airasia.com), and social media channels. Guests are also reminded to comply with the respective government regulations and travel requirements to ensure a smooth and hassle-free journey.
