Nothing lasts forever, they say, and what better way to prove it, than looking at the world of showbusiness? Fame, bankability, even the caliber of an actor, you name it, puff like a bubble in thin air, in showbiz.
But perhaps, there is no better indication to prove that everything is temporary in the entertainment scene, than celebrity pairs.
Breakups in showbusiness has been commonplace, since the onset of local entertainment, itself. Even married couples, and despite the arduous annulment procedures in the Philippines, many opted to part ways. That’s true for some of cinema icons, including the Superstar, herself, Nora Aunor, and the Star of All Seasons, Vilma Santos, who both called it quits with their previous partners.
With the rise social media, celebrities and their love life, are now more exposed to the public and more open to scrutiny, than ever. This year alone, some of the pairs that the public long loved, have decided to take opposite directions, not just in careers, but from each other.
Among those already confirmed is beloved Kapuso pair, Yasser Marta and Kate Valdez. Marta, himself, admitted he and Valdez are no longer an item.
Senior High star, Elijah Canlas, similarly confessed in an interview, that he and Miles Ocampo, have decided to part ways.
Netizens have been wondering whether long-time couple, Sarah Lahbati and Richard Gutierrez already decided to go solo, and there have been speculations about where their marriage is bound to go, but no confirmation has ever been released. That said, we can’t help but notice Sarah dropping the ‘Gutierrez’ in her bio on her socials.
Kim Chiu, whose relationship with Kapuso-director, Xian Lim, has been rumored to have gone murky, neither denied nor confirmed separation reports, and instead asked politely to allow them sort things out, themselves. “ “Grabe, sa amin na lang muna yon. We’ll just keep it to ourselves na muna.” she said in a TV Patrol report.
Another couple in rumored to have already split, is the Kapuso love team, Mavy Legaspi and Kyline Alcantara. There is no confirmation yet about whether reports are true, but the exchange of cryptic posts, in which Legaspi’s parents have been increasingly involved, seem to suggest confirmation. That said, without official statement issues, everything remains a speculation as of now.
Of all these news items about celebrity breakups, however, the rumored split of Kapamilya royalties, Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo a.k.a. KathNiel, is what has been attracting the biggest crowd or the biggest chunk of the ‘mariteses’. Well, such is not a surprise, as perhaps very few ever believed that the previously-thought unbreakable couple, would part ways.
But did they? Padilla’s mother, Karla, already denied the issue, but some people around the two in-demand Kapamilya actors, seem to know something else. Let’s see in the coming days, and let’s hope it isn’t true.
