EastWest Bank proudly celebrates the remarkable and inspiring achievement of Atty. Clarissa “Cariss” Ramos, who secured first place in the female category (age 55-59) at the Spartan Race Vietnam 2024 on July 13. Atty. Cariss, a valued and widely esteemed attorney at EastWest Bank, carried the country’s colors and showcased her extraordinary dedication, resilience, and commitment to fitness and sports.

Atty. Cariss Ramos holds the Philippine flag while securing the top spot in the female 55-59 age category of the Spartan Race in Vietnam.

Balancing Career and Passion

“I’ve been participating in Spartan races since 2019. My motivation is to show that these races are for everyone, regardless of gender and age. I want to encourage everyone that it is never too late to engage in these activities. My mantra is #NoExcuses,” shared Atty. Cariss.

Wearing the EastWest shirt with pride, Atty. Cariss Ramos conquers various obstacles at the Spartan Race Vietnam 2024 as she secures first place in the female 55-59 age category.

In her role at EastWest Bank, Atty. Cariss serves as the head of the Corporate and Custodianship Department, handling corporate housekeeping, documentation, and legal advisory services for the Bank’s subsidiaries. Her ability to balance a demanding career with her passion for fitness is truly commendable and aspirational. “To achieve anything, you can’t just wish for it; you have to work hard and make time for it,” she emphasized.

Reflecting on her Spartan Race experience, Atty. Cariss shared, “One of the most memorable moments from the race was raising the Philippine flag while standing on the podium. The support from the Filipino community made it feel like home away from home.” Her dedication to fitness not only allows her to stay fit but also to enjoy playing with her grandchildren without getting tired.

Promoting Diversity and Inclusion

EastWest Bank is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where every employee can thrive. With female employees representing 64% of the workforce, the bank champions equal opportunities for all. Atty. Cariss’s recent achievement exemplifies the bank’s dedication to celebrating the successes of its team members, both in their professional and personal endeavors. “I feel proud to be part of such an inclusive workplace. EastWest Bank not only values diverse perspectives but also actively supports the unique talents and ambitions of its employees, whether in their careers or their passions outside of work,” said Atty. Cariss.

A Role Model for Health and Physical Wellness

As a senior leader at EastWest Bank, Atty. Cariss serves as a role model, not only in her professional capacity but also as a champion of health and wellness. “The support from my colleagues and management helps me stay motivated and pushes me to perform well in every race,” she noted. Her active participation in wellness initiatives, such as the EastWest Milers running club and various employee fitness challenges, exemplifies the Bank’s approach to having a holistic lifestyle amongst its staff.

Looking Ahead

As EastWest Bank approaches its 30th anniversary, the institution remains true in its mission to provide exceptional banking services while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. Atty. Cariss’s triumph is a shining example of the bank’s commitment to empowering its employees and promoting a culture of excellence.
