GMA Network’s flagship primetime newscast “24 Oras” continues to dominate viewership in Mega Manila and Urban Luzon, while ABS-CBN’s action-drama series “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo (FPJBQ)” remains the leading program in the Urban Visayas and Mindanao regions.
According to the Nielsen NUTAM People survey from Wednesday, September 23, “24 Oras” secured the top spot in GMA strongholds Urban Luzon and Mega Manila, while FPJBQ held a commanding lead in the Visayas and Mindanao.
“24 Oras” achieved a rating of 15.3 percent in Urban Luzon and 16.5 percent in Mega Manila, followed by FPJBQ, which ranked second in both areas with 11.9 percent in Urban Luzon and 12.3 percent in Mega Manila.
The third spot in Mega Manila and Urban Luzon was claimed by the historical drama “Pulang Araw,” which garnered 11.0 percent in Mega Manila and 10.3 percent in Urban Luzon. “Widows’ War” followed closely in fourth place, earning 11.0 percent in Mega Manila and 10.0 percent in Urban Luzon. Rounding out the top five in both regions was “Asawa Ng Asawa Ko,” with 9.7 percent in Mega Manila and 8.8 percent in Urban Luzon.
In the Urban Visayas and Urban Mindanao, FPJBQ maintained its stronghold, posting ratings of 22.8 percent and 26.8 percent, respectively. It was followed by the revenge drama “Lavender Fields,” which scored 15.8 percent in Visayas and 14.0 percent in Mindanao.
“24 Oras” ranked third in Urban Visayas with an 11.9 percent rating, while “Pamilya Sagrado” took third place in Urban Mindanao with 12.8 percent.
In fourth place, “Pamilya Sagrado” secured 10.4 percent in Visayas, while “24 Oras” registered 8.3 percent in Urban Mindanao. Completing the top five, PBB Gen 11 took the fifth spot in Urban Visayas with 5.8 percent, while TV5’s “Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa” secured 6.0 percent in Urban Mindanao.
This data highlights GMA Network’s dominant reach in Mega Manila and Urban Luzon, while ABS-CBN continues to sustain a loyal viewer base in Visayas and Mindanao, even without its franchise, by leveraging various channel platforms. GMA, despite its national reach, still struggles to penetrate these key regions dominated by ABS-CBN.
