Veteran journalist Arnold Clavio recently made waves on social media with his sharp criticism of certain election candidates, accusing them of running for public office without having clear or substantive plans for governance.
Clavio took to Instagram, using humor and satire to express his thoughts about candidates filing Certificates of Candidacy (CoC) for the upcoming 2025 elections.
In his post, Clavio coined the mock scientific term “CACATUA MANGMANGUSAMUS (Noun)” to describe candidates, which he defined as “those who want to win but have no plans.”

Although Clavio didn’t name specific individuals, the post drew attention to the ongoing trend of personalities entering politics without concrete platforms.
The broadcaster’s post was widely discussed, with actor Gardo Versoza among those agreeing, commenting humorously about how candidates employ various strategies for personal gain.
This commentary also coincides with the trending reaction to an interview with Willie Revillame, who recently declared his senatorial candidacy.
When asked on One News about his legislative agenda, Revillame responded, “Wala pa, hindi pa kasi ako nanalo”, drawing criticism from the public and further fueling the conversation about preparedness in politics.
