Kapuso actor Ken Chan is facing syndicated estafa charges related to an alleged PHP14 million investment fraud after a complaint was filed by a businessman at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police officers attempted to serve an arrest warrant at Chan’s residence on Friday, November 8, 2024, but were unable to locate him.
According to the complainant’s legal counsel, Attorneys Joseph Noel Estrada and Maverick Romero of Estrada and Aquino Law Office, Chan and seven other co-investors are involved in the case. The businessman, who has chosen to remain unnamed, claims he was convinced by Chan’s group in 2022 to invest PHP14 million in a restaurant venture. However, the promised returns were reportedly never delivered, leading to the legal dispute.
“According to the complainant, hiningan [siya] ng investment ni Ken. Hindi naman sila authorized to solicit investment from the public. Using misrepresentation, fraudulent schemes, nakakuha sila ng pera sa complainant,” Atty. Estrada explained.
He also confirmed that the complainant had direct dealings with Chan and that the investment had been transferred directly to the actor’s account in two installments over less than a year.
This is the second time law enforcement has attempted to serve the warrant on Chan, following a previous attempt in September 2024. His whereabouts, as well as those of his co-accused, remain unknown.
LionhearTV remains open to any statement from Chan and the other personalities involved.
