The telecast of PBA Games appears to have significantly impacted the ratings performance of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo (FPJBQ).
Based on the latest Nielsen NUTAM People survey reports, the PBA Games have drawn viewers away from FPJBQ, leading to a decline in its ratings.
During the week of November 4 to 8, FPJBQ’s ratings noticeably dropped on days when PBA Games were broadcast. Typically achieving ratings of 15 to 16 percent, FPJBQ saw a reduction of about 3 percent, falling to 12 to 13 percent on those days.
For instance, on Wednesday, November 6, the PBA Finals Game 5 between TNT and Ginebra garnered a 3.0 percent rating, which coincided with FPJBQ’s ratings dipping to 14.4 percent from 16.2 percent the previous day.
Similarly, on Friday, November 8, the PBA broadcast achieved a higher rating of 3.9 percent, further pulling FPJBQ’s rating down to 13.6 percent.
The previous week also saw a similar trend. On Friday, November 1, the PBA Finals Game 4 earned a 3.2 percent rating, while FPJBQ’s ratings dropped to 12.2 percent, pushing it to the number two spot on the overall ratings chart.
This suggests that a portion of FPJBQ’s audience may also be basketball fans who chose to watch the PBA Finals instead of their usual program when the schedules overlapped.
