Rumors are circulating that the primetime action-drama ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’, starring Coco Martin, may soon end its successful run.
In the latest episode of ‘Showbiz Updates’, showbiz insider Ogie Diaz addressed the speculation and shared his thoughts on the future of the Kapamilya series.
“Ako naman, naniniwala ako na kapag kumikita ito, hindi dapat patayin. At feeling ko naman, ‘yong sinasabing hanggang 2025, ‘pag matatapos na ‘yong 2025 hanggang 2026 naman ito,” Diaz explained.
He added jokingly, “On a yearly basis ang pagtatapos ng ‘Batang Quiapo’. E lalo na, grabe ang utak ni Coco diyan. At bukod pa diyan e maraming characters na naman ang lalabas.”
The show is currently celebrating its 100th week on-air and marked the milestone with an action-packed teaser showcasing intense and emotional upcoming scenes.
In the teaser, Tanggol (Coco Martin) faces a deadly confrontation with Olga (Irma Adlawan) in a do-or-die battle. Meanwhile, Tanggol’s mother, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache), appears to set aside their past differences in a desperate attempt to save her son.
Another dramatic twist is expected when Olga reveals the truth to Tanggol about his real parentage—that Rigor (John Estrada) is not his biological father.
Since its premiere in February 2023, ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo’ has become a consistent ratings leader and a staple of primetime television. The series follows the phenomenal success of ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’, which ran for more than seven years and cemented Martin’s status as a top-tier TV actor and producer.
Now in its second year, the series continues to capture viewers with its gripping storyline and unexpected twists.
Despite the growing chatter, there has been no official announcement from Coco Martin or ABS-CBN regarding the show’s conclusion.
