The young Kapuso star seamlessly transitioned from being the Kapuso daytime queen to a formidable primetime royalty.
Jillian Ward continues to make remarkable strides in her career, particularly this year, where her current primetime series, My Ilonggo Girl, retained its domination in the ratings game. Following her impressive reign in daytime television, via Abot Kamay Na Pangarap, which ruled the ratings game for over two years, the 20-year old star seemingly brought her sparkle to GMA Prime and retained her crown, with the GMA Public Affairs-produced series.
My Ilonggo Girl proved to be a delightful watch to avid Kapuso viewers, achieving consistently high ratings that solidified Jillian’s status as a leading Kapuso star on primetime. Notably, the show reached a monumental 7.8 aggregated people rating on Thursday, March 6, spotlighting the show’s massive popularity. This victory does not only highlights the young actress’ mass appeal, but also marks a significant achievement for the program and GMA Network’s primetime block, given the failure of the two preceding shows to win their respective timeslots.
Despite the debut of a new rival show, Saving Grace, which only managed to snag a 5.7 people rating on the same date, My Ilonggo Girl did not maintain its viewership but also improved, illustrating how the series kept its audience glued on its lighthearted storyline.
It’s also worth noting how Ward’s seamless transition from daytime to primetime, speaks volumes of her untainted popularity, making her one of the most important young stars of her home network.
My Ilonggo Girl is set to air its final episode on March 20, Thursday, and to be replaced by the new series, Slay.
